PGA Jr. League is committed to enriching lives through experiences that transcend golf.

What started as an idea scribbled on a napkin has grown to over 71,000 kids playing on teams nationwide. While the program has evolved to include expanded age divisions, year-round play and an enhanced All-Star experience for competitive players, the commitment to our values of Safety, Care and Organization remains steadfast.

PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth pillar program of the PGA of America’s 501 (c)(3) foundation, PGA REACH. We envision a world in which PGA Jr. League is accessible to every child, everywhere, regardless of background or circumstance. We believe that golf is for the collective, and everyone deserves to feel a deep sense of belonging to healthy and caring communities.

How It Works
A game and experience of its own.
PGA Jr. League is shifting the way youth golf is learned and played, including the adoption of league play, team golf and scoring with flags and points. All of these unique elements are further explained below. More detailed information can be found in our 2024 Conditions of Play booklet here.
Expert Coaching

Behind each and every PGA Jr. League team is a PGA Coach providing a safe, caring and organized environment for every child to become (and stay) a golfer. These experts in the game are provided with flexibility to create a coaching program that works best for their players and families.

Teams with Friends

Easily one of the best parts of PGA Jr. League is the team component! All kids will be a part of a local team that may consist of anywhere from four or more players.

League Play

Teams are part of leagues, organized together so that games can be played and local league standings can be kept.

Some leagues may be held entirely at one facility under a PGA Coach. These in-house leagues include multiple teams that practice and play at the same facility each week, though some in-house leagues may travel to other facilities for friendly matches or Play Days. 

Other leagues may be formed across multiple facilities, where teams take turns visiting each other’s golf courses and playing against one another.

The PGA Jr. League Format

Each team is broken down into two-person pairs (or three if a substitute is included)  who play together in games.

All PGA Jr. League games are played in a two-person scramble format. This means that both players in a pair hit drives. The best shot is selected, then each player plays from the selected spot, and this process continues until the ball is holed.

The scramble format is key in allowing everyone to hit shots and contribute to the team. PGA Jr. League utilizes match play scoring, which focuses on performance vs. a score-to-par as is traditional with golf.

Within a PGA Jr. League game, pairs play in a head-to-head, 9-hole match. Each match is broken into three flags. Each flag is three holes in a row, and each team has the opportunity to earn points at the end of each flag.

Competitive All-Star Opportunities

Depending on league and player eligibility, many players will have the opportunity to compete in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season. The Championship Season consists of a mix of head-to-head matches, as well as team stroke play competitions, where scores are calculated based upon performance to-par.

Who Can Play

Come one, come all.

We believe that every child can be a golfer. All skill levels are welcome, and no prior golf experience is required to participate in the program.

PGA Jr. League includes two age divisions: 13u and 17u.

Must be no older than 13 years old
Minimum age is determined by your local PGA Coach (once you locate your nearest program, please inquire with the PGA Coach)
17u
Must be at least 14 years old and no older than 17 years old
Minimum age is determined by your local PGA Coach (once you locate your nearest program, please inquire with the PGA Coach)
Families are encouraged to take an active role as spectators and volunteers within their local league. Connect with your local PGA Coach regarding these opportunities when you register for a program.
When We Play

Fun, year-round.

While PGA Jr. League is seasonal, these playing opportunities exist all year long.

Every PGA Jr. League player is required to pay an annual fee of $99, which includes access to their local league and participation in as many seasons as desired throughout the year. This membership includes custom uniforms and team kits, a digital center with fun games and events, and opportunities from partners and sponsors.

PGA Coaches charge an additional program fee, which varies by location and is listed for each program on the Find a Program page.

Common Questions
What are the minimum and maximum ages
to play?

PGA Jr. League is split into two age divisions: 13u and 17u. 

In 13u programs, the minimum age is determined by the facility. Kids as young as 6 years old have played on a 13u team, but we encourage you to reach out to your PGA Coach prior to registration to confirm their program’s age minimums. Our 17u division is designed for kids ages 14-17 years old.
Please note that in order to participate in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season, 13u All-Star players must be no younger than 10 years of age and no older than 13 years of age as of July 31, 2024. 

17u All-Star players must be no younger than 14 years of age and no older than 17 years of age as of July 31, 2024. A player's age as of July 31, 2024, will further be referred to as their "league age.”
What is included in the registration fee?
Every PGA Jr. League player is required to join the #GameChanger Club.  For a one-time $99 annual fee, players receive custom uniforms and team kits, a digital center with fun games and events, and opportunities from our partners and sponsors. 

Your team’s program fee is determined by your PGA Coach, which includes all practices and games with expert coaching and any other facility-specific perks your PGA Coach might offer. Program fees are listed on the page.

What is the time commitment?
A PGA Jr. League season typically consists of approximately six games, in addition to practices and other events as scheduled by your PGA Coach. Each PGA Jr. League game consists of four, two-player matches – each 9-holes in length – and typically takes place over the course of
2½ hours.

Time commitments vary by program. Contact the local PGA Coach of the specific program you’re interested in to learn more.
